360º Panorama Photoshop and Gimp Tutorial

I have started to try my hand at 360º Panoramaic photos and with much Joy I might add, these are actually quiet easy to do and give a lovely ‘Mini World’ result. To see a slide show of all I have created so far please see HERE.

MINI WORLD TUTORIAL FOR PHOTOSHOP OR GIMP

1: To achieve this result just pull your image into Photoshop or Gimp, preferably a landscape but this spiral effect can be done to any image.

2: Make the image the same height and width, squaring the image

3: then flip it vertically (upsidedown)

4: Go to Filters, down to Distort and Hit ‘Polar Coordinates’ and BINGO! you now have your very own 360º Panoramic image =)

Tips: In your landscape to get it to line up perfically either mirror the landscape side by side of itself like this:

When Photoshopped will give you this:

or make sure the landscape is level on both sides of the image so that the circle is continuous when you finish, then its just a matter of cleaning up the image to get rid of the seam line, but be aware, this line can add to the image overall.

Hope you found this useful, please feel free to share your creations, Id love to see what you come up with :)

Im freaking out now!

Yeah, just saw that it’s the 1st of may and I just completely got really, REALLY nervous! :o its 28 days left till I finish my degree and I have so so so much left to do and prepare for the degree show, I know I am on top of it, but I cant help but get a little freaked out!

Next week is very busy also, and what I think I am most worried over. Thursday the 7th I am the photographer of a wedding of 2 dear friends, wednesday I have an interview in the college for a postgraduate in Teacher Training, Monday evening is the wedding rehearsal which I will go to to prepare for Thursday, lighting, locations etc. All this and im still on crutches…

Im sure everything will work out, but I am a worry wort, always have been and I can thank my mammy for that! cheers mum! :p

Right now tho, all I can do is prepare for everything, heres the list:

For Monday evening: (Wedding Rehearsal) Prepare cameras, charge batteries, charge flash, bring extra batteries and notepad for measuring ISO and locations etc.

For Wednesday: (Interview for Higher Diploma in Teacher Training) Mount Portfolio of 20 pieces, choice of old fashioned way or in a PDF format, I think I prefer the old way! more reliable and wont run out of battery! get sketch books and photographs ready and archive everything in chronological order.

For Thursday: (The Wedding Day) prepare all gear, charge batteries have everything ready the day before here is the gear I will take:

  • Canon 450d x 2
  • Fuji S9600 Back up Camera (so 3 cameras in all)
  • Flash
  • Monopod + Tripod
  • Lenses: Wide-angle for large group and full church and reception views
  • 50mm portrait lens
  • Telephoto lens: 28 to 135 and 70 to 200
  • some manual lenses for detailed shots macro etc.
  • Step Ladder
  • Umbrella
  • Flash backing cards
  • Elastics
  • Plasters
  • Selotape
  • penknife/multi-tool
  • Comfy shoes!
  • some food
  • Also ill take the crutches in the car for when I need them… Actually I have no idea why I am posting this here but there you go!

Now I have one question for all you style divas out there, can anyone suggest what I could wear as the photographer of a wedding? I have to wear trainers because of the foot and I have a lovely black pinstripe pance and black shirt but is that too plain? I was thinking of then changing into a dress for the reception as I wont have to be running around as much later in the evening.

Anyhow, any feedback or help would be appreciated, I am fairly useless when it comes to fashion! :p
